The Honda NT1100 DCT (2025) is the ultimate expression of asphalt touring and the Japanese brand's advanced dual-clutch transmission technology. Powered by the sophisticated 1,084 cc parallel-twin engine (directly inherited from the Africa Twin), it offers exceptional touring capability and reliability. Its maintenance program follows Honda's standardized and logical 12,000-kilometer cycle, but the inclusion of the DCT gearbox adds an extra layer of mechanical particularity: it requires the replacement of an additional hydraulic oil filter and thorough inspection of its parking brake.

Maintenance Interval Table

Honda structures the NT1100 DCT's preventive service plan with periodic checks every 12,000 kilometers (or one year), concentrating the most invasive and costly work at the 24,000-kilometer milestones. If you want to compare this plan with other models, you can consult the Official Honda CB650R 2023 Maintenance Plan.

MileageTimeMain Tasks to Perform
1,000 km1 MonthBreak-in: Engine oil change. Replacement of the engine oil filter and the clutch oil filter (exclusive to DCT models). Parking brake inspection and general bolt check.
12,000 km1 YearAnnual Service: Engine oil change. Inspection of brake pad wear, cleaning of crankcase breathers, cooling system, and electronic scan with the Honda Diagnostic System. Parking brake check.
24,000 km2 YearsMajor Service: Valve clearance check and inspection. Mandatory spark plug replacement. New oil change and replacement of both oil filters (engine and DCT clutch). Brake fluid replacement.
36,000 km3 YearsStandard Service: Minor tasks from 12,000 km are repeated (engine oil, scan, general fluid inspection). Radiator coolant replacement (stipulated by time every 3 years).
48,000 km4 YearsComprehensive Major Service: Identical to the 24,000 km service. In-depth valve clearance check, new spark plugs, oil, both filters (engine and clutch), and new brake fluid change.

Critical Maintenance Points

  • The Dual Oil Filter (DCT): Unlike conventional geared motorcycles, Honda's sophisticated DCT transmission uses two independent filters: one for general engine lubrication and a meticulous filter dedicated exclusively to the clutch hydraulic circuit. Both must be replaced after the initial break-in period (1,000 km) and subsequently at every major 24,000 km service.
  • Oil and Exact Capacity: To ensure the smoothness and precision of the dual-clutch actuators, Honda unequivocally requires the use of SAE 10W-30 oil that meets JASO MA and API SJ (or higher) standards. The exact oil pan capacity when draining and changing the oil along with both filters (engine and DCT clutch) is 4.2 Liters (4.4 US qt). If the engine is completely disassembled at any point, this capacity increases to 5.2 Liters.
  • Parking Brake: Since the DCT transmission does not allow leaving a gear engaged to lock the wheel when the bike is off, the NT1100 DCT incorporates a parking brake. The cable adjustment and wear of this auxiliary pad must be checked without fail at every 12,000 km service to prevent accidents when parking on slopes.
  • Specific Spark Plugs: The 1084 cc engine requires the use of high-performance NGK SILMAR8A9S spark plugs. The gap between their electrodes is meticulously calibrated from the factory at 0.8 - 0.9 mm and should not be altered; they are simply replaced every 24,000 km.
  • Tire Pressure (Full Load): Designed for long journeys, the bike is fitted with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 180/55 ZR17 rear tire. The recommended cold tire pressure for asphalt, regardless of whether you have a passenger or maximum load, must be strictly set at 2.5 BAR (36 psi) for the front wheel and 2.9 BAR (42 psi) for the rear wheel. You can find specialized workshops for your tire changes in our motorcycle shop and workshop directory.
  • Fluid Renewal by Time: The prescribed brake fluid is Honda DOT 4, which absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and must be purged and changed mandatorily every 2 years, regardless of the kilometers traveled. Likewise, the coolant (Pro Honda HP Coolant) must be replaced every 3 years to protect the inside of the aluminum block. Maintaining the motorcycle is key to its lifespan.
