Official Maintenance Plan Zontes R310 / T310 (2019) - Complete Guide
Official maintenance guide for the Zontes R310 (2019) and the 310 series. Discover its demanding 3,000 km intervals, PKE system care, and valve adjustments.
The Zontes R310 (2019) leads the brand's technological offensive in the naked segment for the A2 license. Powered by a 312 cc single-cylinder engine, liquid-cooled, and with a high compression ratio (12.5:1), it delivers 26 kW of power. This motorcycle stands out for its sophisticated electronics, including keyless entry (PKE) and backlit switchgear. However, to keep this high-performance engine in optimal condition, Zontes demands an extremely rigorous maintenance schedule, prescribing oil changes every 3,000 kilometers and very early valve inspections.
Maintenance Interval Table
Unlike Japanese or European manufacturers that space their services at 10,000 km, the official plan for Zontes' 310 series is much shorter and more dynamic.
| Mileage | Time | Main Tasks to Perform |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 km | 3 Months | Break-in: Engine oil and oil filter change. Inspection of the drive chain, valve clearance, and tightening of chassis bolts. |
| 3,000 km | 15 Months | Regular Service: Engine oil and oil filter change. Chain tension check (cleaning and lubrication recommended every 1,000 km). |
| 6,000 km | 30 Months | Major Service: Mandatory valve clearance check. Replacement of the spark plug. Inspection of the evaporative emission control system and throttle body synchronization. |
| 9,000 km | - | Regular Service: Oil and filter change repeated (identical to the 3,000 km service). |
| 12,000 km | - | Full Service: In addition to repeating the 6,000 km tasks, brake fluid replacement and in-depth inspection of lines and hoses are required. |
What about long-term fluids?
The manufacturer stipulates that the engine coolant should be changed every 2 or 3 years, while the brake fluid must be replaced strictly every 2 years, and the hydraulic hoses every 4 years.
Critical Maintenance Points
- Oil and Exact Capacity: Zontes is strict about lubrication. Synthetic motorcycle oil SAE 5W-40, 10W-40, or 10W-50 that meets (or exceeds) the demanding API SN standard must be used. The capacity when draining the crankcase is 1.6 Liters, increasing to 1.7 Liters (1700 ml) if the oil filter is also replaced.
- Millimetric Valve Clearance: Valve adjustment is critical and must be checked cold every 6,000 km. The factory-specified tolerances are: Intake 0.11 - 0.20 mm and Exhaust 0.18 - 0.30 mm.
- Electronic Care (PKE System): Equipped with a Passive Keyless Entry system and high-draw components at rest, battery care (Lithium type in recent versions or standard 12V 4.4Ah) is vital. In case of prolonged inactivity, an appropriate smart charger/maintainer should be used to prevent TFT display misconfigurations or electronic steering lock failures.
- Tires and Constant Pressure: The Zontes R310 uses sporty asphalt tire sizes (110/70-R17 front and 160/60-R17 rear). To prevent loss of control or tire overheating, pressure must be strictly maintained at 2.5 BAR (250 kPa or 36 psi) cold for both axles. You can check gas station prices for your trips regularly.
